From
covered
bridges to historic and unusual headstones, Northfield, Vermont
and its neighbors have many sights for you to see. Northfield
Falls is home to four covered bridges, and a scenic drive over the foothills
to Moretown and
onto the famous and spectacular Route 100 with its pulloffs and side
roads along the Green Mountain
National Forest. Mount Mansfield,
Vermont's highest peak, stands out against the sky and is an impressive
sight when traveling north from The Woods on I-89, considered one of
the most scenic stretches of highway in the US. Vermont's
seat of government is an historic and architectural treasure. The golden
dome keeps watch over Montpelier. Montpelier's Hubbard Park is picturesue,
with a fifty-foot stone oberservation tower, the city's highest point,
which provides spectacular views, and the Vermont Arts Council Sculpture
Garden is a great picnic spot, and the Gallery is located in VT Senator
Leahy's boyhood home. To see
some impressive granite sculptures and workmanship, you can visit the
Hope Cemetery
and Sculpture Center in Barre. Head south
on VT-12, and you can get to Brookfield and drive across the floating
bridge, a "don't miss" for avid sightseers! Please don't hesitate to ask for our advice about some of our favorite scenic drives, and we'll even share some spots to stop along the way! |
