Not only can you enjoy the 36 acres we have here, but there are may varied recreational activities to be enjoyed in the surrounding area.

Here is just a sampling of what the area has to offer:

The Northfield Country Club is a public, 9-hole golf course, a less-than-five-minute drive from The Woods, and for smaller golf appetites, Lots O'Balls Mini Golf in Waterbury has a unique and challenging 18 hole miniature golf course nestled in the mountains of Central Vermont.

Even though we are nowhere near the ocean, the Wrightsville Beach Recreation Area, off Route 12 north of Montpelier is ideal for a family picnic at the beach.

Glider Rides and Instruction are available at the Sugarbush Soaring Association in Warren, and for some really old-fashioned fun, Mountain Valley Farm has horse-drawn carriage and sleigh rides. If you're a rider yourself, the East Hill Farm Riding Center in Plainfield offers horseback riding. Mad River Glen's award-winning naturalist program in Waitsfield educates all ages about forests, wildlife & ecology.

Magic Mountain Cycling Center in Moretown is the place to visit if you like to bike, and if walking is more your style, try Volkswalk, a walk through the capitol, up to Hubbard Park and through the smallest state capitol city, Montpelier.

If you feel the need for speed, check out the Waterbury Skatepark which is an indoor skatepark, skateshop and arcade in Waterbury with 1/4 pipes, ramps and funboxes, video games and skate accessories. If that's not fast enough for you, there's always Thunder Road International Speed Bowl, Barre's short-track, high-banked, motor speedway -- racing street stock, late model stock and Flying Tigers series events.

We can't forget the Skiers! The closest downhill spots are in Warren and Waitsfield. Sugarbush has 115 trails descending from six interconnected mountain area with 2,650 feet of vertica, and Mad River Glen is one of the most unique ski areas in the country, boasting a single-chair lift. For a unique experience cross-country skiing on old quarry trails and railbeds, try Millstone Hill in Barre.
